Peril at the Pumps
Posted by Donald J. Trump on 5/5/2006 at 2:23 PM
Here we go again with gas prices skyrocketing to unbelievable heights.
Gas prices are already over $3 dollars a gallon in many parts of the country. Some Californians are actually paying $4 dollars a gallon, and energy analysts predict that by summer the rest of the country could be paying just as much.
You can blame the high prices on growing global demand for oil, hurricane-damaged oil refineries here in the United States, and greedy oil companies. Last year alone, the head of ExxonMobil earned nearly $70 million dollars. That's $190,000 dollars a day--not a bad income!
President Bush proposed short-term measures to cut the price of gasoline, vowed to uncover price gouging at the pump, and announced measures designed to develop energy alternatives. But we need to do more.
Why don't we go to the countries that are ripping us off and tell them to get those prices down? These people fly in private 747 airplanes that cost $300 and $400 million to build. In the meantime, people in our country can't even buy gas to go to the grocery store.
Americans are cutting back on their gas, they're cutting back on their vacations, and they're cutting back on their food. They're cutting back on everything. Meanwhile, foreign countries and oil companies are making a fortune by ripping off the American consumer.

Comment - 747’s again? Note though, that he attributed high gas prices to several issues. These days it's soley directed toward Middle Eastern nations
The Race for Vice-President
Posted by Donald J. Trump on 3/13/2008 at 6:55 AM
With the Democratic presidential nomination far from decided, the candidates were jockeying a little bit recently, talking about a “dream ticket.”
Hillary Clinton said she’d consider naming Barack Obama as her vice-president when she gets the nomination, but she’s nowhere near a shoo-in. For his part, Obama said he’s just focused on winning the nomination, although at least one member of his team said Clinton would make a good vice-president. (I know Hillary and I think she’d make a great president or vice-president.)
It’s interesting to see what the candidates are doing. They’re playing the same kind of power games that you see in any kind of business environment.
Sometimes if you project a powerful attitude then the people around you can’t help but pick up on it too. It’s great positioning and it often works.
It’ll be interesting to see, however, if it works in the political arena. A lot of people think a Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton pairing would be a dream pairing for the November election. But for that to happen, one of them has to willingly agree to be Number Two.
Until then, keep an eye on all the power games and maneuvering. It will reveal a lot about who might one day sit in the Oval Office.

Comment - Hillary would make a great President? Hopefully it won't be him in the Oval Office!!!
A Challenging Olympics
Posted by Donald J. Trump on 8/5/2008 at 10:00 AM
I love the Olympics. It’s amazing to watch the world’s greatest athletes all take the same playing field together.
Like so many time before, these Beijing Olympics have been wrought with controversy. Many people feel that President Bush should not have agreed to attend the opening ceremonies. They think that boycotting the event would’ve shown his concern about China’s horrid human rights’ record. But he said not attending would’ve been an affront to the Chinese people and he felt no need to connect the athletic event and politics.
Both Barack Obama and John McCain have echoed the calls of human rights groups, saying they would have boycotted the opening ceremonies had they been in the president’s place.
It’s a difficult position that politics have to play. These young people have worked hard - often most of their lives - for the chance to compete at the Olympics and for them, there’s nothing political about the event at all. They merely want to show their talents on a worldwide platform against incredible athletes.
I wish we could keep it about the athletes and their sports, but I know we can’t. To them, I say congratulations for making it that far. We’re impressed and proud and will be rooting for you. Bring home the gold!

Comment - He agreed with Obama and McCain on human rights but now he wants to build walls, deport people en mass, ban Muslim immigration and repeal LGBT rights
Obama Is Absolutely Right
Posted by Donald J. Trump on 2/5/2009 at 10:59 AM
Last night I was on the air with Larry King who always has incisive questions. He asked me if Obama was right or wrong to go after these executives with salary caps--and I said he’s absolutely right. Billions of dollars are being given to banks, and once you start using taxpayer money, it’s a whole new ball game.
It’s not a game I’m enjoying watching. The banks are trying to shore up their balance sheets. They’re supposed to be loaning out that money and they’re using it for other purposes, so it is a real mess.
Everyone wants to blame the United States, but every country is in trouble. There’s been a lot of greed and a lot of stupidity. But being appropriate isn’t asking for a lot, considering the national and worldwide situation. The enormous bonuses and unnecessary perks that have surfaced in the press is enough to anger anyone who has worked hard and lost hard in recent months.
The concept of bailouts is a two-edged sword. If they didn’t do the bailout, we would be in depression No. 2, and maybe it would be just as big as depression No. 1, so they really had to do something. We don’t really know if it’s going to work for quite some time. If it’s really wrong--and it could be wrong--we’re going to really have a mess in two years.
We are in a situation that is trial and error. We’ve never dealt with this before. But I think Obama is doing the right thing and all of us must remain alert to what is happening.

Barack Obama Election Ushers in A Different World
Posted by Donald J. Trump on 11/14/2008 at 11:30 AM
This week I was interviewed by Dominic Carter of New York 1, on his program called Inside City Hall. New York 1 is an all-news program that is popular in New York City, and Dominic Carter is someone I have a great deal of respect for. He should have a national show, but then New York would miss out on his full time and dynamic presence here. He describes me as “a man not known for keeping his opinions to himself” and the interview spanned two consecutive nights.
On Tuesday night we covered some interesting topics. Dominic asked about the election and I was honest about it. McCain was in an almost impossible situation. Bush has been so incompetent that any Republican would have a hard time unless they could bring back Eisenhower. He was a disaster for the country as well as for the Republican Party.
Then he asked me about Barack Obama. I told him that Barack will need to be a great president, because we’re in serious trouble as a country. It hasn’t been this way since 1929. So he doesn’t have much choice--he will simply have to be great, which he has a very good chance of being. I saw him speak in Berlin, and what he has done is amazing. The fact that he accomplished what he has in one year is truly phenomenal.
Dominic mentioned my unique alliance with Al Sharpton. I told him that I understand Al. He is just doing his thing. That is our philosophy.
After 9/11, this country had a lot of compassion from countries around the world. Within a short amount of time, we were hated. How did that happen? e had no dialog with other countries because they just plain hated us. I think we know who is responsible for that. What’s different today is that we have a new chance, a new beginning. The world is excited about Barack Obama and the new United States. Let’s keep it that way!

Comment - And Trump expects that world opinion of the US will change for the better if he becomes POTUS?
Trump being Trump, the tweets about politics number into the thousands.
Politics being what it is one expects some mud-slinging, but Trump has taken it to a new level. His personal attacks are beyond what is acceptable when running for office, let alone for POTUS!
I’ve limited Tweets to those that are of a personal nature, and even then, there are too many to display them all!
Note the tweets about Obama and Clinton - one minute he’s praising them, next he’s disparaging - even commenting on how Obama runs down the stairs of Air Force One, and Hillary and Bill’s sex life!
The Trump's and Clinton's were friends once, the latter attending Trump's wedding. One can easily see it wasn't about friendship, but the prestige of having a former President and First Lady at the wedding. Would a decent person turn on friends to get the top? Trump has done just that!!! If that's how he treats friends, how does he treat his enemies? Just read the other pages to learn how two-faced Trump is!
