Appearance and Health Obsessions
On shaking hands -
Posted by Donald J. Trump on 6/26/2006 at 7:32 AM
I don't like germs. That's why I don't like to shake hands. You just never know what that person did with his or her hand right before it was offered to you to shake.
Sometimes in business, however, you can't avoid it. But I'm going to do everything in my power not to shake hands with teachers. According to a new study, teachers have the germiest jobs. They have 17,000 germs per square inch on their desks. That's 10 times the germ rate than any other profession.
Bankers and accountants have the second highest number of germs in their offices because they usually sit at their desks all day. By the way, never borrow a pen from an accountant. Their pens have more germs over any other profession.
The cleanest offices belong to lawyers. That's likely because they're often away from their desks - either in court or playing golf - so germs don't have any reason to develop.
One final germ warning. Avoid touching the first floor button on the elevator. It is absolutely swarming with germs. I think from now on, I'm taking the stairs.

Fired or Fat?
by Donald J. Trump,
If given the choice, would you rather get fired or get fat? It looks like most Americans would prefer to take their chances in my boardroom.
According to a recent fitness survey, 58 percent of women and 54 percent of men say they'd rather be unemployed than gain an extra 75 pounds. An even higher percentage of the people say they'd rather be poor and at an ideal weight than be rich and substantially overweight.
Obviously people think it's easier to find a job than to lose significant amounts of weight. They'd rather go job-hunting than have to make lifestyle changes in diet and exercise for a year or more - which is what it would take to lose that many extra pounds.
But fortunately, most people would not be willing to give up IQ points to gain the perfect body. Three-quarters of the men and even more women value smarts over skinniness. I'm glad they realize that brains win out over brawn every time.
Personally, I think the key is getting a great job. When you love your job and you're good at it, you make money. It's all very simple.
And you know what? When you make tons of money, nobody really cares about your weight.

Tattoos
by Donald J. Trump
I get all sorts of interesting questions on my various Websites and from regular letters in the mail. A lot of people ask me for business advice. A lot of people flat-out ask me for money. And a lot of people ask the strangest personal questions. Believe it or not, a couple of people have even asked me if I have any tattoos.
The fact is I don't like tattoos. I don't like seeing people destroying their bodies and I hate to see people putting people's names on their bodies only to have them removed at a later date when they break up a la Angelina Jolie who is not exactly one of my favorite women.
Anyway, the American Academy of Dermatology conducted a survey and found out that one out of three Americans under the age of 30 has at least one tattoo. But it's not just young people who are getting themselves inked. One-quarter of Americans under the age of 50 have a tattoo.
Not that long ago, I watched Dwayne Wade win the NBA Championship. He was great and he has no tattoos. It seems as if he's the only guy in the NBA without them! He looked fantastic. He also happens to play a great game of basketball.
There was one not-so-surprising statistic unveiled from the study. The researchers found that people who drink, do drugs, have spent time in jail or have given up religion are more likely to be tattooed. Why doesn't that surprise me? Do yourself a favor. If you want to be taken seriously, don't get a tattoo. At least not somewhere where the rest of us have to look at it.

Men and Cosmetic Surgery
by Donald J. Trump
Not that long ago I talked about a new study that found more and more women are becoming addicted to Botox. Now I read that men are fueling a boom in cosmetic surgery and other treatments.
Apparently, it's not just women who are vain.
The most popular procedures men request are getting ridding of the bags under their eyes, erasing wrinkles and getting treatments for baldness.
Men who have had cosmetic treatments say that in the workplace any advantage helps. And looking young, in many instances, makes them feel like they have an edge over their competition.
Surprisingly, it's men in their 30s who seem to be most likely to go in for cosmetic procedures because they are the most afraid of looking old. They want to go into the boardroom without wrinkles and bags . . . and with lots of hair.
But I think they've got their priorities out of whack. They need to worry more about their brains than their wrinkles. If they're good at making deals, no one's going to notice the bags under their eyes.

Comment - No nips/tucks or Botox for the Donald hey? What about hair transplants? And I’m fairly certain he wouldn’t mind his wife going under the knife or botoxed (if she hasn’t already - my, at 46 and not a wrinkle. Hmmmm)
Bearded Police Officers in Houston
Posted by Donald J. Trump on 7/14/2008 at 10:28 PM
Apparently, facial hair is serious business when it comes to the Houston police department.
City officials have authorized spending as much as $150,000 to defend the city in a lawsuit challenging a policy that forbids beards and goatees. The City Council says they want to hire new police officers, but they don’t want new police officers who happen to have a lot of facial hair.
Four police officers filed a federal civil rights lawsuit in November claiming the no-beards policy is discriminatory. The officers say the ban on beards and goatees is unfair for men who suffer skin conditions and can’t shave.
The policy was originally instituted by the police department in 1993 so that uniformed officers would look conservative and professional.
But some officers say if they look too clean-cut, that affects their earning potential both inside and outside the police department. They say if they work in a dangerous area, the bad guys immediately know they’re cops.
I have to side with the City Council on this one. I think a good appearance is critical in every line of work so I’m all in favor of them insisting that their officers be clean-shaven. There’s nothing wrong with instituting a strong dress code. Sorry, officers, but pull out your razors.

Does Height Equal Power
Posted by Donald J. Trump on 7/29/2007 at 11:04 AM
The taller you are, the more powerful you are. At least that’s how it appears.
A professor at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business has studied executives and how they achieve status. One of the things she found is that they use their height - or the appearance of height - to their advantage.
Taller people are perceived to be more powerful than shorter people. They really increase their edge by doing things like speaking loudly in a deep voice, putting their hands on the shoulders of shorter adversaries, and - for women, wearing heels.
Several studies have found that taller men are much more likely to be successful than shorter men. In fact, every American president in the last 100 years has been taller than average and corporate CEOs tend to be taller than normal.
I happen to be tall and I happen to be successful. I like to think it has to do with a lot more than just my height.
I know plenty of very successful people who aren’t tall at all. I think you can project success in many ways and it certainly has nothing to do with your physical stature.

Attractive People Inspire More Teamwork
Posted by Donald J. Trump on 3/10/2008 at 7:41 AM
If you are running a business or even conducting a meeting, here’s the ticket to success. Have a lot of attractive people around.
New research proves that people naturally work harder when they’re around a good-looking person. There’s an inherent desire to be near beautiful people and to please them. So when an attractive person asks for help, most people will jump at the opportunity.
Apparently that’s why football teams with handsome quarterbacks tend to be so successful. And, in office environments, that’s why bosses are smart when they put a great-looking man or woman in charge of leading an important project.
We already knew that better-looking people tend to be promoted at a faster rate and often get hired with larger salaries than their more average-looking counterparts. Now we know that they often inspire their coworkers to put in the extra effort and to work harder.
I always liked the idea of surrounding myself with very talented people who also happen to be very attractive. Now I know I’ve been on to something all along. But I’ve also been around plenty of average-looking people who have done a great job too. So I’m guessing that looks, honestly, don’t mean all that much.

The Importance of a Good Handshake
Posted by Donald J. Trump on 7/8/2008 at 5:50 AM
For the first time ever, researchers have studied the importance of a good handshake.
A huge study at the University of Iowa found that those people who start job interviews with a firm, strong handshake are always perceived in a more favorable light than those who shake hands like a limp fish.
Good handshakers are seen as being more extroverted and, eventually, more hirable. And women with strong handshakes have an advantage over men because their grips are more memorable.
I think that the only thing better than a good handshake is no handshake at all. I’ve long said that handshakes are a bad idea because of all the germs people spread when they shake hands.
People always come up to me wanting to shake hands and I never know where that hand has been. I say let’s copy the wonderful Japanese custom of bowing. It’s respectful and it’s sanitary. What more could you want in a greeting?

Comment - How would he cope with all the handshaking and formal greetings that is required of POTUS? In France people greet with faire la bise… in New Zealand it’s touching noses … a hongi. Note also the comparison betwen genders again.

In an interview in July 2008 where Trump shook hands with the journalist, Trump said “Well, you look like a nice clean guy. What am I going to catch from you? It’s a terrible custom we all have but I guess it’s better than a hug”.

Comment - How would he cope with the eternal handshakes for press photo ops? How would foreign leaders and other dignitaries feel knowing that Trump would want to run off to the nearest bathroom to wash his hands???
Past comments by Trump regarding handshakes and other health issues -
We’ve heard his recent comment regarding his finger length, relating it to ....eeeeeewwwwwww!!!!
Here are a couple from his books -
From Trump: The Art of the Comeback 1997 ISBN-13: 978-0812929645
Almost nothing bothers me more than sitting down for dinner at a beautiful restaurant and having a man you’ve just seen leaving the men’s room, perhaps not even having washed his hands, spot you and run over to your table with a warm and friendly face, hand outstretched. You have a decision to make. Do you shake this total stranger’s hand, or do you insult him by saying that you would rather not? I have done both, and nothing works. If you shake his hand, you then get up to rewash your hands and inevitably somebody else comes over to you to shake hands. If you don’t shake his hand, he walks away with a long face, totally insulted, and bemoans for the rest of his life how that bastard Donald Trump would not shake his hand.

What went on in Studio 54 will never, ever happen again. First of all, you didn’t have AIDS. You didn’t have the problems you have now. I saw things happening there that to this day I have never seen again. I would watch supermodels getting screwed, well-known supermodels getting screwed on a bench in the middle of the room. There were seven of them and each one was getting screwed by a different guy. This was in the middle of the room.
Stuff that couldn’t happen today because of problems of death.

Sept, 2015 - Autism has become an epidemic. Twenty-five years ago, 35 years ago, you look at the statistics, not even close. It has gotten totally out of control.
I am totally in favor of vaccines. But I want smaller doses over a longer period of time. Because you take a baby in -- and I've seen it -- and I've seen it, and I had my children taken care of over a long period of time, over a two or three year period
of time.
Same exact amount, but you take this little beautiful baby, and you pump -- I mean, it looks just like it's meant for a horse, not for a child, and we've had so many instances, people that work for me.
Just the other day, two years old, two and a half years old, a child, a beautiful child went to have the vaccine, and came back, and a week later got a tremendous fever, got very, very sick, now is autistic.
I only say it's not -- I'm in favor of vaccines, do them over a longer period of time, same amount.
